VICE Asia — Deadly Beauty

VICE Asia — Deadly Beauty

Overview

Deadly Beauty is a VICE World News docu-series investigating dangerous and unregulated beauty procedures across Asia — from unlicensed clinics to DIY treatments with severe consequences. The full graphics package covers the title sequence, lower thirds, headline stacks, data visualisations, and archival treatments across four episodes, collectively reaching over 9.5 million views on YouTube. All elements were designed to stay within VICE's established visual language while holding a consistent identity across the series.

Title Sequence

Each episode opens with a unique title clip matched to its subject matter, with the episode title overlaid on top — giving every installment its own visual context while keeping the series identity consistent.

Lower Thirds

Headlines

News headline stacks overlaid directly on documentary footage — a deliberate VICE design choice that keeps the viewer anchored in the visual reality of the story rather than cutting away to a graphics-only screen.

Data

Statistics, research figures, and archival material treated within the same visual system — data callouts that contextualise without competing with the source footage.

Archival Treatment

Consistent on-screen graphics for archival footage and stills used throughout the series.
